Services Available by NOSS
Once cabling is installed and functional, schools can get further
NSSB support to help them insure that teachers and students make
maximum use of their LAN.
Using the school's technology plan as a guide, NSSB will meet with
administrators, tech coordinators and individual teachers to plan
how they will use the network.
With these short and long term goals in mind, NSSB will help the
school select appropriate networking software and hardware and obtain
quotes and ordering information from reputable vendors. NSSB can
install Network Operating Systems on school's servers and configure
the servers to integrate with DOE's wide area network. This enables
NSSB to support the installation remotely through remote management,
monitoring, troubleshooting and problem correction.
NSSB will also install and configure common DOE network applications
such as library automation, MacSchool, etc. In addition, NSSB will
install and configure network services on school LANs to improve
performance and manageability, i.e. NetWare/IP, DHCP,
WINS,
DNS Proxy
servers, etc. Finally, NSSB can provide local and remote LAN
analysis to troubleshoot LAN problems.
