Before you request help...

Here are a few tips to follow when asking (phone or email) for technical support from anyone. The better you phrase your request, the faster it can be processed.

  1. State what computer you're using. Some times it's easy to overlook this and assume the person on the other end knows what computer you're using.
  2. List the software you're using and version numbers (if possible).
  3. Mention all the symptoms of the problem, not just what you think is wrong. If you're asking about how to do something state what you want your final outcome to be and not just what the immediate problem is.
  4. Be able to duplicate the problem.
  5. Mention everything you've done to remedy the situation. It always helps to know that you've put some effort in solving the problem. :)
